The younger Herreshoff's designs emphasize artistic perfection, where his father--Nathanael--had emphasized engineering perfection. Includes instructions on how to build nine of the designs, from the Double-paddle Canoe to the Golden Ball and the Mobjack. This is noted naval architect Thomas Gillmer's copy, with his bookplate on front pastedown and his name and date in ink on front free endpaper. Bound in yellow cloth over boards with maroon stamped spine lettering. Textblock edges have some mild foxing. Dust jacket shows some minor edge wear and scattered light soil to rear panel. Gillmer, noted naval architect and historian, and bears his ownership signature dated 1962 on front free endpaper. Gillmer has additionally made some notations in pencil on one page.
